Defiance Running Club Sponsors

The Defiance Running Club of Wallaceburg is currently seeking corporation sponsorship for our youth program.

Our corporate program is a tiered program, and is set up as follows:
$100.00 donation for companies with 10 or less employees
$200.00 donation for companies with 11 – 25 employees.
$300.00 donation for companies with 26 – 50 employees
$400.00 donation for companies with 51 – 75 employees
$500.00 donation for companies with 76+ employees

With your donation, your employees will be offered free memberships with our running/walking club. The health benefits of walking and running are numerous and include:

  • Heart health
  • Increase in strength
  • Decrease in breathing issues such as asthma
  • Reduction in blood pressure
  • Improvement in mental health
  • An increase in bone density
  • Reduction of the effects of diabetes
  • Aids in reducing stress
  • And most importantly, it helps fight cancer

100% of all donations will go directly to our youth program. Our inaugural youth program, which began in September of 2014, had over 600 children registered, in various Chatham-Kent schools, from kindergarten to grade eight.  It is our hope to increase this to 1500 children in an enhanced youth program this coming September. Youth obesity and a general lack of physical exercise, is a huge problem with today’s youth and we believe our youth program is an excellent starting point to get children active. The program is offered through both local school boards and it will be free to everyone.  We have set distance goals for the children to achieve. To assist in achieving those goals, we have developed an incentive program, whereas prizes will be awarded when children attain predetermined distance goals. We also plan to offer scholarships to the senior elementary students, which will be based on academics as well as physical ability. Our program is patterned after the highly successful 100 Mile Club in California, which currently has over 100,000 participating students. The 100 Mile Club has proven that children involved in their in-school program, have exceeded academically, as well as physically. Running and/or walking, brings about a sense of calm, allowing the students to focus better.

We strongly feel that our proposal is a win-win situation for everyone. Your employees receive an opportunity to be involved with a great adult social running and walking club, which aids in better health, and in turn can substantially reduce employee absenteeism at your workplace. As an added bonus, your company will be assisting in maintaining our youth program for a reasonable, tax-deductible donation. We highly recommend our Couch to 5K Clinic for newcomers that are currently inactive.

Easy to use, group registration forms and our club waiver forms are both found on our website, at Registering your employees could not be easier.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mark Childs at 519-784-3341 or email us at We look forward to hearing from you and hope you consider our proposal.

Good things are only a step away.
